Apps to Empower is seeking submissions for its global app-writing competition, and the deadline is April 30th. To be considered, teams from around the world will submit Android 2.2 applications that directly benefit women.
Applications will be judged by a panel of judges based on the following criteria:
a. Relevance – Value addition to the user’s life
b. Usability – Ease of use/Intuitiveness
c. Innovation/Creativity – Originality of thought
Arthur Grau, one of the volunteers on the organizing team, sat with GWOB on our bi-monthly podcast to give us a little more context on the contest and how you can get involved:
The top 5 applications will be loaded on the Ubislate series of tablet devices from Datawind, shown at the BluWorld portal, and promoted through a global alliance of technology firms, foundations and United Nations organizations. Cash prizes of US $2,500 will be awarded to the winning app in each of the four categories (Leadership/Mentorship; Conflict Resolution; Education/Out of the Box; Entrepreneurship/Jobs).
