Bachchao, our team from Bangalore, is putting the finishing touches on a prototype of their mobile distress app. We profiled Bachchao as RHoK participants before they applied and were accepted to the Geeks Without Bounds Accelerator, and are deeply pleased with the approach the team is taking to address the issue of eyewitness accounts during an assault.
Right now, Bachchao is exploring how best to fund the further development and distribution to those vulnerable populations that need the application most. They are seeking backers and funding for their organization, and a means of dissemination via high profile distribution networks (government agencies and NGOs in India and abroad).
Bachchao’s mobile distress app provides a panic button option in the midst of an assault situation. It instantly notifies contacts of your location via GPS, records the crime as it takes place while streaming it to a secure server, and acts as a digital eyewitness in a court of law.
