SpaceAppsLogo International Space Apps Weekend has finally arrived! Geeks Without Bounds is happy to be co-organizing this years event with Greensboro College in Greensboro, North Carolina for the second year in a row. If you are in the area, we’d love to see you. (If you are too far away, check http://spaceappschallenge.org to see if the site nearest you still has space)

Tonight we’ll have a pre-party from 6-9 PM at Lea Center, Main Building. It’s a good chance to meet the people that you will be collaborating with over the weekend. There will be snacks, of course. We’ll also have animations and music on a YouTube playlist that has been specially curated for the evening. Also, games.

On Saturday morning we’ll open the doors at 9am. You an park your car in the lot behind Proctor Hall West or next to the Admissions Building (Lot A). Then, come in to get your t-shirt and swag bag and then enjoy coffee and donuts until 9:45 when we’ll start the opening remarks and project pitches.

If you have an idea for a project to meet one of the challenges and you want to find people to help you with your idea, this is where you tell us all about it.

By 11am we’ll break into groups and get working.

Also at 11am, it will be time for Space Kids, our mini- Space Apps Challenge for youngsters under 13. We’ll be working with the kids to come up with games and sports that can be played in space, and we’ll be helping them submit their ideas to the International Competition just like all the grown up projects. Space Kids organized activities will be over at 3pm on Saturday, but kids are welcome to be at the whole event as long as they are accompanied by an adult and are not disruptive to others.

So, if you have a kid or know someone who has a kid who likes sports or space or both, bring them along!

spaceappsgreensboro 2015We’ll have lunch at about noon and dinner at about 6:30pm on Saturday.

They’ll kick us out of the building on Saturday night at 9pm, but we’ll be able to start again at 9am on Sunday. You’ll want to finish your work by 4pm on Sunday so that you can upload all your work and prepare your presentation, because at 4:45 all work on projects stops and judging begins!

Each team will present their project, starting at 4:45pm on Sunday in Proctor Hall West, room 109. Friends, parents, and random passers by are welcome to this presentation to see what we’ve been up to all weekend. Then at 5:30pm the judges will hand out the awards.

Do you know someone who would have fun at Space Apps? Bring them! They can register online, or just register when they show up.

We look forward to seeing you!
