GWOB Accelerator alumnae Bachchao are currently running an Indiegogo campaign to raise money to continue development of their project.
The Android Bachchao application allows a person to set up a certain number of trusted friends that will be alerted in the event of an emergency. When the emergency button is pressed, the phone sends text messages to the trusted friends and to local emergency services. It also automatically records and transmits both audio and video of the events so that there will be a record for any future police investigation or court case.
Contributions to this campaign will help build technologies that safeguard women (and men!) all over the world. The funds will go directly to building a Web application that will enable users to share information with their trusted friends and store witness records captured by the telephone. Additional funds above what is needed for the Web tool will go to development of applications on iOS and on qt.
